LifeTime Resources

2-1-1 Call Center

Helping Individuals and Families

Every hour of every day someone in the United States finds themselves in a situation they have never been in before where they have to ask for help.  They begin a difficult and desperate search trying to find an agency that will help provide emergency food, emergency shelter, legal or financial assistance, adequate care for an aging parent or child, affordable healthcare, or other essential services.  Faced with a dramatic increase in the number of agencies and help-lines, often individuals don’t know where to turn. In many cases, people end up going without these necessary services because they don’t know where to start.  Whether the individual is well-educated or a high school dropout, financially secure or living in poverty, a long-time resident or an individual new to the city…..navigating the maze of human services providers can be a confusing and daunting challenge.

2-1-1makes it easier for people to make these connections.

2-1-1 is an easy to remember, easy to dial number for free access to health and human services. Trained Information and Assistance (I & A) Specialists answer the calls and through a unique process of assessment and providing information, they enable individuals to make informed decisions about accessing community resources.

While the 2-1-1 dialing code has only been available in Indiana since 2002, organizations have been providing information and referral services for years.

LifeTime Resources has had I & A service for nearly 30 years but our database consisted primarily of programs and services geared to the 60 and over population. Recognizing the need, we expanded into an officially endorsed 2-1-1 center, going “live” on February 11, 2004.  We then began providing comprehensive human service information to the general public with a continued focus on specialized programs and services for the aging population.

LifeTime 211’s Commitment to Excellence

In

October 2005, LifeTime Resources was the first Area Agency on Aging in the state of Indiana to achieve their Alliance of Information and Referral Systems (AIRS) Accreditation.

AIRS is a national professional association of information and referral providers dedicated to advance the capacity of a standards driven information and referral industry. The AIRS Standards bind together every aspect of I & R and define the direction of all the products and services provided by AIRS. The Standards are the foundation of 2-1-1 service delivery and the prime benchmark of quality I & A.

Indiana 211 Partnership, Inc.

Indiana 211 Partnership, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building the 2-1-1 system for Indiana.

On February 11, 2004, IN211 celebrated "2-1-1 Day" by announcing availability by 6 Centers, in 21 counties, or 40% Hoosiers.  Today, statewide coverage has more than doubled.

The goal of the Indiana 211 Partnership is to reach all Hoosiers, however, due to lack of funding only 85% of Indiana has 2-1-1 coverage in 2007.
